Meet Our Mentors

 Yamileska Yantin

Coach Yamileska Yantin brings a wealth of international, Hall of Fame-level experience to the court. Widely regarded as one of Puerto Rico’s top indoor and beach volleyball players, she made history in 2011, earning a Bronze medal at the Pan American Games. 

Coach Yantin was a key member of the Puerto Rican National Indoor Team from 1999 to 2013 and competed on the Beach National Team from 2001 to 2013. She also served as Head Volleyball Coach at Florida State College and currently coach multiple age groups with Powers Volleyball Club in Jacksonville, FL. 

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from East University in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and is now the co-owner of Savannah Volleyball Elite, Savannah’s newest premier volleyball club.

Marco Macias 

Coach Marco Macias brings a powerful blend of elite international playing experience and over 15 years of high-level coaching expertise to the volleyball community. As a former standout for Mexico’s Men’s National Indoor and Beach Volleyball Teams, Coach Marco has competed on some of the sport’s biggest stages. 

International Playing Career – Mexico National Team (Indoor & Beach) 

  • 2016 Rio Olympic Qualifiers – Key member of the Olympic qualifying roster 

  • FIVB World Championships (Indoor & Beach) 

  • FIVB World League (now known as the Volleyball Nations League) 

  • FIVB World Beach Tour – Represented Mexico on the international circuit 

  • World University Games – Global student-athlete competition 

  • NORCECA Continental Championships – Regional elite-level representation 

His transition from elite athlete to high impact coach has been marked by a passion for player development and program building. Over the past five years, Coach Marco has coached at the collegiate level, serving as an assistant coach at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), and currently holding dual roles as Assistant Indoor Coach and Head Beach Coach at an NAIA program. 

In addition to his college coaching, Marco has been a head coach with Powers Volleyball Club (PVC) Jacksonville for four seasons, where he helped shape competitive travel teams and mentored young athletes on and off the court. He is also the founder of HP Volleyball and PVC Savannah, both dedicated to high-performance training and athlete development. 

Now based in Georgia, Coach Marco, alongside his wife, Hall of Fame volleyball legend Yamileska Yantin, has launched Savannah Volleyball Elite, the region’s newest and most dynamic volleyball club. Together, they are committed to elevating the level of volleyball in the Southeast by combining world-class experience with a passion for developing the next generation of athletes.

PAMELA CARTAGENA

Pamela Cartagena is a former standout volleyball player from Puerto Rico whose accomplishments span high school, collegiate, professional, and international levels.   At Pittsburg State University (Kansas), she became one of the program's most decorated athletes with three NCAA Division II  All- American honors, and the 2009 MIAA player of the Year award and multiple records in kills, attacks and digs.

JORDAN YANTIN

Coach Yantin comes with an impressive NCAA Coaching experience and success in NCAA D1, D2 and D3. During the last few years Coach Yantin was an assistant coach of top D1 programs like Coastal Carolina, University of North Florida. Also at Ramapo College, where the Roadrunners won their first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship.

n 2021-22, Yantin was an assistant coach for the Bloomfield College women's volleyball team, helping guide them to back-to-back North Division titles, while making the finals in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournaments in both years. In his first season as the leader of FSCJ, finished in first place in the Panhandle Conference. Yantin's team won the 2017 Panhandle Conference Championship. He was named Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year and he coached the conference Player of the Year.

Darangelys Yantín Puerto Rican volleyball player who has represented her country at the highest levels of international competition. She was a member of the Puerto Rico National Team that competed at the 2010 FIVB World Championship in Japan. In the same year, Yantín helped lead Pinkin de Corozal to a championship title in the Puerto Rican League.  

Former FSCJ Assistant Coach, PVC and JJVA Coach.  

Yantín rejoined Pinkin de Corozal in 2010, playing a key role in the team’s journey to the league finals. That same year, she was again called up to the national team and contributed to Puerto Rico’s bronze medal finish at the Unique Cup in Peru, a key warm-up tournament ahead of the World Championship. In Japan, Puerto Rico finished tied for 17th place, earning one victory over Kenya with a 3–0 win to close out the tournament with a 1–4 record.

ROSELIDAG OBUNAGA

Roselidah Obunaga is the head volleyball coach at Savannah State University. During her first three years, the Savannah State volleyball program has earned two post-season bids and gradually improved each season.

 

Obunaga is a two time Olympian athlete. She competed in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics as a member of Kenya’s National Women’s Volleyball Team. She also competed in several African championships.

Jessee Grubesic

Jessee Grubesic brings over a decade of competitive playing and coaching experience to Savannah Volleyball Elite. Growing up in Colorado, Jessee played for top-level travel clubs before moving on to compete at the collegiate level. She began her career in NCAA Division I at Saint Peters University (SPU), continued on the beach at San Diego Christian College (SDCC), and finished at Savannah State University (SSU), where she earned her BBA and closed out her playing career.

Obed quiles

 Obed Quiles is a seasoned coach with a strong background in both baseball and volleyball. He graduated from the University of Pikeville with both a bachelor's and master's degree. Quiles played professional baseball in 2012 and 2013 before transitioning fully into coaching. He served as an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Pikeville for two years before being promoted to head coach, a role he held for eight years.

Currently, Quiles is entering his third year as head coach at Brewton-Parker Christian University, where he continues to bring passion, experience, and leadership to the program.
