Scoring & Sets
Beach matches are best of 3 sets. The first two sets go to 21 points, and the tie-break goes to 15. You must win by two!
QUICK FACT: Teams switch sides every 7 points to keep the wind and sun factors fair for everyone.
Rules & Gameplay
Court & Gameplay
Played 2v2 on a smaller sand court. There are no specialized positions like indoor—both athletes must pass, set, and hit.
QUICK FACT: A block counts as the first of your team's three hits. Precision is key in the sand!
Common Strategies
Communication is your best tool. Use short 'shots' and 'pokes' to find open space rather than just powering through.
QUICK FACT: Open-hand dinks are illegal in beach ball! Use your knuckles or a stiff palm instead.

Pro Beach Training Tips
Mastering the Sand
Conditioning & Agility
Moving in sand is all about short, explosive steps. Unlike indoor floors, the sand absorbs your energy, so stay on the balls of your feet and keep your core engaged to maintain balance during quick transitions.
- Focus on lateral movements and backpedaling drills.
- Incorporate plyometrics to improve your vertical jump in shifting sand.
- Hydration is your best teammate—Savannah heat is no joke!
Communication is Key
With only two players on the court, constant talking is vital. Call every ball early and loud. Developing a 'language' with your partner helps cover the court efficiently without overlapping.
Youth Athlete Growth
For our younger stars, focus on basic hand-eye coordination and the joy of the game. Beach volleyball builds incredible versatility because every player must serve, pass, set, and hit.
